Support Scope for Commercial Design Templates

If a company sells editable design templates, support should be designed alongside the files. Define usability, documentation and maintenance responsibilities before the product reaches buyers.
Describe the product boundary
State the task the package solves and the tools needed to use it. Explain whether personalised editing, setup assistance or additional pages are excluded. Check that the sales previews do not suggest deliverables that are absent from the actual download. An attractive mockup is not a substitute for an accurate product inventory.
Observe a first-use attempt
Give the files to someone who did not create them. Ask that person to replace text and imagery and export a usable result by following the documentation. Record questions without immediately taking over. The findings can improve layer names, product descriptions and help material. Do not assume every buyer has the same software knowledge as the designer.
Review dependencies and rights
Check distribution rights for fonts, photographs and other included assets. Identify required software and versions. Have the responsible person review the licence scope instead of relying on a vague commercial-use statement. Client work must not be repackaged without the necessary permission.
Include maintenance in the product plan
Separate support requests into defects, usage questions and feature requests. Decide how updates will be offered to existing buyers. Evaluate maintenance and promotion effort alongside sales income. In digital product design, a usable first experience is part of the deliverable, not an optional extra after the file has been sold.
