Connecting Search Questions to a YouTube Brief
Selçuk AkerPublished:

About 2 minutes to read
Start a company video's brief with a search question. The title, cover, explanation and next step should serve the same viewer need.
Answer with verifiable knowledge
Identify the decision a customer is trying to make about the product or service. Base the answer on information the company can substantiate. A practical demonstration may be more useful than broad promotional claims. Have the subject owner check accuracy before release and avoid presenting unmeasured outcomes as performance evidence.
Give the title and cover distinct jobs
The title can define scope while the cover establishes a visual focus. They should complement one another instead of repeating a long sentence. A cover promising material that is absent from the video attracts the wrong expectation. Review it at thumbnail size and check that viewers can distinguish it from other videos on the channel.
Link to a relevant destination
The description link should provide useful detail about the same topic. A product comparison should not lead to an unrelated page. Resolve inconsistencies between the video and the website before publishing. Check current file and thumbnail requirements in YouTube's official help material.
Interpret more than one metric
Consider clicks, viewing behaviour and questions together. When a cover changes, account for other changes in promotion or subject matter before attributing results. In content planning, the useful objective is to answer the right question sufficiently, rather than pursue view count in isolation.
