Connecting Objectives, Creative and Measurement in a Campaign Brief

About 2 minutes to read

Channel selection sometimes gets ahead of the objective in digital marketing. A team decides to run advertising and only later asks what success means. A stronger starting point is the behaviour the campaign should encourage: an enquiry, product comparison, appointment or purchase.

Define the audience and action together

New and existing customers do not necessarily need the same message. Specify who should receive the offer and at what stage. If audiences differ, do not assume one text suits everyone. Make creative adaptation needs visible in the budget.

Review the destination alongside the advertisement

The landing page should fulfil the expectation established by the ad. Good artwork cannot compensate for a broken form, missing stock information or unclear application step. Complete the essential user task on a real device before launch. Visual approval and technical release checks are different activities.

Interpret results through the business need

Views and clicks can be useful indicators, but they are not equivalent to qualified enquiries. Define an appropriate lead with the sales team. Consider tracking limitations and the influence of other channels rather than expecting one metric to explain the whole result.

When planning content and social media work with Creative House, discuss creative production, publishing management and media spend separately. That distinction makes it easier to decide what should change after the campaign.
